If you happened to visit my blog Tuesday, you would have seen pictures of my trip to Alaska in 1984!
Where in Alaska was the question I left you hanging with!
The answer is Kodiak, Alaska!
Our church youth group went on a mission trip to a partner church there and boy did they put us to work! We painted houses, felled trees and dug ditches. After all of that work, our one desire was to visit a beach with “real” waves. So they took us to Fossil beach.
This first picture is Kodiak Island as seen from when we were on neighboring Woody Island.
The other 3 pictures are of Fossil Beach on Kodiak. What strikes me is how warmly we were dressed at this beach! It was July, and one other thing I remember was the fact the the sun set at about 10:00 pm, and rose at like 3:00 am.
This beautiful picture below I cannot take credit for, but is shows an overhead shot of Fossil Beach.
Been anywhere close or far? Go visit Lemon Drop Pie and link up for Where in the World?

Wow, you've got a great memory! (I won't tell you how old I was in '84 ;) I have a friend from high school who married an Alaskan fisherman and now lives there. I'm always fascinated by her facebook statuses and pictures. It seems like such a different world from here in warm VA!
What neat pictures! I didn't expect to have someone post pictures of being on a cold beach in JULY! How fun!
I have relatives up in Alaska, so while I've been there twice, I've never been to Kodiak. Maybe someday!
Thanks for linking up to Where in the World! You're awesome!
I've always wanted to visit Alaska for those long sunshine days in summer - even if it's cold!
That sounds like a wonderful adventure & it looks beautiful too!
Someday we may go to Alaska. We have friends who live there (somewhere! LOL!). Every picture I've seen of where they live is SO gorgeous!!
The pictures are beautiful! Wish I had went to your church. We took a few trips, but Alaska!!! Sounds like you worked hard, but what you accomplished is probably why you still think of it so fondly today. One day I will make it there.
Very refreshing pictures.
What an amazing trip!
