Top 5 Friday #1

Always one to jump in on a new Meme, I love this one from Fiona at Bantering Blonde! What happened to your top 5 unwritten blog posts of the week? Well list them there and join in!!

  1. So my first exciting topic is the weather! Anyone still here?? I promise it does get more exciting than this but you have to understand that I live in Colorado and the joke this week was Spring on Tuesday, Summer on Wednesday (with highs in the high 70’s) and Winter on Thursday. This morning I woke up to snow! I mean seriously people, I didn’t even know where to begin to find mittens and hats today!
  2. Thank you McDonalds for the How to Train Your Dragon toys. Could you not have found a better design to keep the wings on this Toothless dragon? If I have to put those wings on again 645 times tomorrow, I just may send you a tweet about it!!
  3. Next up has to be the one I swear I will get caught up on every week! The Tags and Awards that all the other lovely bloggers have sent me: The one I really want to complete is Tagged Mother Style. Michelle at Flying Giggles and Lollipops sent this one to me like a month 4 months ago and all I have to do is share 5 experiences that helped shape me into the mom I am today. I am on number 2!
  4. The next one would have to be The Top 5 Things I have learned being the Mom of a Kindergartener. Like #1 how hard the change would be for my daughter, and #2 how much paper the school would send home. So there is 2 our of 5 right?
  5. Number 5 is the best and the worst of the bunch. I missed the chance last week to wish my beautiful Angel Happy Birthday on my blog! So does that make me a slacker or what? Last year I did posts for both of my kids on their birthday and this year I never got to it. So here you go Angel:

Happy 6th Birthday to my girl, with the long legs, and the hands that talk, the beautiful smile and the heart of gold: Mommy loves you every minute of every day you know!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~The 6th Photo edition

So how old is your blog! Officially mine was started on 02/03/2008, but my very second post was done on 01/01/2009. I look at the 2009 date as my official blog start date. I have posted 233 posts including this one!

Why do I ask this do you say? Well I saw this cute Tag Melanie did over at Whimsical Creations that just fit right into Take Me Back Tuesday! Go back to the beginning of your blog, what was the 6th Photo you published on your blog?

Here is mine, this is going back to 2009 from a post titled Full Of Words Tuesday where I rambled on about inauguration day, and posted 4 random facts about me. This is the picture posted and is number 6 on my blog! Here are my Dad and Mom sitting with my Son, then 4 months old and Daughter, then about 2 1/2. This one takes me back to September of 2006!

A Day With Two

“How do you play along? We all have tons of photos from the days before the digital camera. I figure if I just scan a few each week, eventually I will get them all safely into my computer.

But you don't need a scanner to participate! - Just find a photo that takes you back to another time. Every week you can come back here and share photos that "take you back." Maybe it is the bad hair we all had in the 80's, the bell-bottoms you swore were so hip in the 70's, or your favorite pictures of your kids!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Time Passes

Oh my goodness, when did the time pass so fast???

This picture is of my parents, in 1987. The world was at my feet that year, I had graduated from high school then, and we went visiting colleges. I chose the one in Greeley, the University of Northern Colorado for those of you that don’t live in CO!

This picture is my parents in 1997. I chose it because I guess I am feeling nostalgic for my Dad. Look at you guys, so young and yet so much my parents. I miss you Dad, and so does Mom.

Fall 1987

While we are looking back, I just had to put this picture of my brother in. He was the hunk of the High School I went to, and joined the Marine Corps shortly after this picture was taken. Now he is a very blessed Father of 4 girls, with a wonderful wife to boot!

Lori Birthday 1975

This week I look back to my 6th birthday in January of 1975.  I chose this occasion because I will have a 6 year old in my house in only 3 short weeks!!  I love this first photo because here I am innocently blowing out my birthday candles, and what is my brother doing???  We he snagged my Dad’s lighter off the table and is just having a grand old time getting it to light!!  (He was almost 9 by the way)!

Lori Bike 1975 The birthday present was the much wished for first bicycle!  Don’t you just love the 70’s style!?!?

Don’t be shy, go dig out your old photos and link up for Take Me Back Tuesday!!

The Top 10 Things Kids Want Their Parents To Do With Them

After having a great week just spending time with our kids, I though I would post this list from an article I read way back in January! What jumps out to me the most is how many times kids just want you to talk to them. I love hearing my kids talk about what is important to them and I love their perspective on their world! What do you talk to your kids about??

Found from an article here, this is a list of the top ten things students around the world said they remembered and loved most about their mothers.

  1. Come into my bedroom at night, tuck me in and sing me a song. Also tell me stories about when you were little.
  2. Give me hugs and kisses and sit and talk with me privately.
  3. Spend quality time just with me, not with my brothers and sisters around.
  4. Give me nutritious food so I can grow up healthy.
  5. At dinner talk about what we could do together on the weekend.
  6. At night talk to me about about anything; love, school, family etc.
  7. Let me play outside a lot.
  8. Cuddle under a blanket and watch our favorite TV show together.
  9. Discipline me. It makes me feel like you care.
  10. Leave special messages in my desk or lunch bag.

Aloha Friday #2 ~The One Thing I Never Get To Do

Hi all!! For those of you that know me, you know that I NEVER get to do Aloha Friday. By the end of the week for some reason they always want met to finish my work on Fridays (I mean really, what are they thinking!?!?)

This week, I am on Vacation so look out!! Here I am on Aloha Friday!

My Question of the week is:

What is the best “attraction” your parents took you to before your were the age of 12 ?

My answer has got to be the Denver Zoo. That is where we took our kids on Thursday!! My Cutie Bug wanted to see the Giraffes, so here he is in front of them!!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~A New Beginning

Hi Take Me Back Tuesday fans, and blog readers (all 50 5 of you!) The lovely Kari at A Giveaway Addicted Mommy has asked me to Take over her fun Meme Take Me Back Tuesday.

What is Take Me Back Tuesday you say?? Well…in Kari’s words:

“How do you play along? We all have tons of photos from the days before the digital camera. I figure if I just scan a few each week, eventually I will get them all safely into my computer. But you don't need a scanner to participate - Just find a photo that takes you back to another time. Every week you can come back here and share photos that "take you back." Maybe it is the bad hair we all had in the 80's or the bell-bottoms you swore were so hip in the 70's.
If you decide to participate, sign the Linky below and I promise to head on over and spread some comment love your way!”

The only thing I would add to this is: It is o.k. to be too tired to scan a photo. Often times I would just grab a digital picture of my kids that took me back in time but was easy to post. I have to say after participating in this Meme for a year, the very best thing I got out of it was the blogging friends I made!

So without further ado I give you:

Take Me Back to April of 2004. Yes folks this is me, I think one of the only pictures we have of me actually pregnant! Standing in our soon to be used nursery all done up in the Primary Color theme (just in case they were wrong about it being a girl!)

But A girl it was…04-05-2010 03;45;18PM

A Day With Two #3

Here is hoping every one had a nice Easter!  Or just a nice weekend for that matter!!

Since Hubby works retail, he was working Sunday but was home for our favorite part of the day, our Easter Egg hunt.  The Easter Bunny was very nice to us this year and left much candy and a toy for each kiddo!

While Daddy was at work we dyed our Easter eggs.  The Cutie Bug of course had to do yellow.  Looking back at our pictures from the day, yellow seamed to be a theme as he also had to wear his brand new How To Train A Dragon shirt we got at Wal-Mart!  We continued our day with a visit to the park!  This was a treat since it has hardly been warm enough here to do that very thing.  I think sometime in the near future I will have to get out comparison pictures of the last few year at this park because my goodness how big these kids are getting!!

Mosaic Easter 2010

Hey, on a different note I will happily be hosting a Meme on Tuesday that I have accepted responsibility of from my lovely  friend Kari at A Giveaway Addicted Mommy

A Day With Two

And, hey!  Get ready to see a lot of me this week since our whole family is on Spring Break (which means no work for me, Yea!!)
