Take Me Back Tuesday ~Sturgis Week 3

I believe I mentioned last week that for us Sturgis means a huge camping trip with friends. So here we have some of my favorite pictures from around camp. I am guessing these pictures are from around 1999. (Don't forget to write dates on you photos!)

This first picture is Hubby, one of my favorite pictures of him. He is a little camera shy to say the least, so it's always nice to get a good shot of him.

Boys

Some of the boys at camp.

Drinking a few Cajun Poppers with friends. (Absolut Peppar vodka, Clamato juice and a Pepperoncini)

What happens when you outlast the rain!

This is the week I usually miss going to Sturgis the most! But, Once Upon A Time, a had an opportunity to take a job. A good job, but two of the people I would be working with also went to Sturgis! Since there were going to be only 4 of us in the office, that pretty much put me out of the running to have any time off during Sturgis week at all. I had to make the right choice, the job! Then...along came a beautiful little baby girl, then a beautiful little baby boy!! Pretty much shutting down my options to return to Sturgis anytime in the near future. You see, the only people that I would be comfortable leaving my children with for an overnight all go to Sturgis! So yes, sometimes I miss it, but I look now at my kids and know that I would miss them more!!

Please keep precious baby Stellan in your thoughts and prayers! If you are not familiar with his story please visit my charming kids. You may also keep updated on twitter at #Stellan or at ##prayforstellan

Quotable Sunday ~Bikers

Continuing along with what seems to be my theme for the week, I have compiled some biker related quotes for you!
T-Minus 6 days and counting until hubby leaves for Sturgis!

Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul. ~Author Unknown

If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride. ~Author Unknown
Done this one several times!

Catching a yellow-jacket in your shirt at seventy miles per hour can double your vocabulary. ~Author Unknown
Done this one too, and it's the truth! Got mine in the neck though!

Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window. ~Author Unknown

A friend is someone who'll get out of bed at 2 am to drive his pickup to the middle of nowhere to get you when you're broken down.
Haven't had to do this in the middle of the night, but I have helped load bikes into the back of trucks many times!

If you can't get it going with bungee cords and electrician's tape, it's serious.
We use duct tape and bailing wire though! I think hubby said he has some on his bike right now!

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't. ~Author Unknown
Ours got back on thank the Lord! But that's a story for another day. Remember: Always Look Twice and Save A Life!

There are drunk riders. There are old riders. There are NO old, drunk riders.
So true, riding (or driving for that matter) drunk is just stupid.

In God We Still Trust. ~Diamond Rio~ Presidents Day Version

A Very good friend of mine e-mailed me this video and I just knew I had to share it! So I popped on to You Tube to download if for you. Funny thing that just struck me is, in February when I started blogging I would so not have been able to post a video from You Tube!
Please enjoy this, even if you just listen for 30 seconds the video alone is worth it!

Welcome To Blog Hop '09!

Couldn't go to BlogHer this year?? Well that's o.k.! Robin over at Pensieve is having a Stay At Home Blog Party called Blog Hop '09! The idea? Write a brief Blog Hop post to introduce yourself, link your post and then visit First the Blog Hoppers who share the last digit in your MckLinky number! (i.e. 4, 14, 24, 34 etc.) Sounds like great fun for us couldn't go to BlogHer types right?
Here is your lovely link

Real quick I have to also put in here a link to one of my favorite blogger sites: The Mommy Files.
Shannon is also hosting a BlogHer Non-Attendees Mister Linky's hook up!

Now that you are completely bored with all the details of the hop, here is a little about me!

I am a mom of 2, a 5 year old girl my "Angel" and a 3 year old boy my "Cutie Bug".

I met my Dear Hubby almost 20 years ago! We have been married for 14 years, my heart and soul he has!

I am a full time work outside the home mom (isn't there an Acronym for that?) as an Administrative Specialist with a local government's Transit Division (i.e. I am a secretary at a bus service).

But the main thing about me?? I have a severe blog reading addiction, and a severe giveaway entering addiction! I have met so many awesome people doing these two things I can't even tell you! Some of the folks I adore the most are listed in a post here (but don't enter the giveaway, it's closed!)

I am sure there are a ton more things I could tell you, but you can learn more if you wish by just scrolling down my blog!
Don't forget to visit the links above! Pensieve is having a twitter party you need to read about too!
I leave you with my kids:

Wordless Wednesday

pics 2 006

Me and Cutie Bug, Spring 2009

Can someone please remind me to grab my camera more often?  The fact that my camera batteries died this week is no excuse for the fact that I have like no new pictures of anything for like the last 2 weeks!

So here you get me!  Are you shocked?  I rarely post pictures of myself.  I think this is either a blogging mama thing or due to the fact that I am always the one taking the pictures!

Not so Wordless now, sorry!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~More of Sturgis

lastscan

WARNING here! If you scroll down, there is an almost nude lady in the photo below, just to warn ya!

More about Sturgis?? The picture above is actually the year before I got to go for the first time. I really like it because of the picture of “camp”. Camping is a big part of our Sturgis experience and some years really roughing it has included an outhouse and solar bag showers. My Sturgis years ran from 1994-2002. When I think of the trip we call “Sturgis” and what it means to me, I come up with the chance to spend a full week with up to 15 of the best friends a person could ever have. I think one of the reasons behind why our group goes (besides the bikes) is because it was a fun event that happened once a year so everyone knew in advance which week we would be spending together.

Sturgis

This picture is of a small town in Wyoming called Sundance that we faithfully visit every year. The top picture is of me and 3 of “the boys” just clowning around. I rarely get into the Sturgis pictures because I am always the one behind the camera. The second picture is still Sundance, not Sturgis! In the whole area of southern South Dakota and northern Wyoming bikes pretty much take up parking everywhere! Most of the towns designate “bike only” parking and then let the bikers park on the edges of the street and then have a row in the middle of the street.

I posted this last picture because when you say Sturgis, this is typically what everyone thinks of, women wandering around with no clothes on! Please note: This Is Not Me!! This is just some woman in Sundance in her bikini bottom with stickers over her nipples. Typically you don’t see too much full nudity in Sturgis or any of the other towns because they have set laws in to place that make this illegal. But yea, the stickers make it legal.

This is getting long so I will wrap it up with the preview of next week, what is it like to cook for 15 people, while camping. And oh yea, I still haven’t told you why my tour ended in 2002.

Sunday Quotes ~Dr. Seuss

Happy Sunday everyone! Here are some of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes, his work always brings a smile to my face!

img-thing

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try.

Adults are obsolete children.

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

Quotable Sunday ~Optimism

I have always been a "glass is half full" sort of person. A true optimist at heart.
That is the way I feel about today, so here are some quotes for you about Optimism.

It's the attitude about life, man. Looking at the light instead of the dark. Looking at love instead of fear. ~ Quincy Jones

"Don't ever become a pessimist, Ira; a pessimist is correct oftener than an optimist, but an optimist has more fun and neither can stop the march of events." ~ Robert Heinlein

No person ever ended his eyesight by looking on the bright side. ~ Zig Ziglar

I am an optimist. It does not seem too much use being anything else. ~ Winston Churchill

"I am glad I am an optimist. The pessimist is half-licked before he starts." ~ Thomas A. Buckner

If the sky falls we shall catch larks. ~ American Proverb

Optimism means expecting the best, but confidence means knowing how to handle the worst. Never make a move if you are merely optimistic. ~ Zurich Axiom

One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn't pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself. ~ Lucille Ball

This nice giveaway centers on the cook's dream! First up we have this super cute Red Embroidered Apron, sent straight to you from Portugal! This apron is 100% Cotton and is just what you need to stay tidy in the kitchen!

Next we have 2 (yes count them 2) cook books. The first is Cat Cora's "Cooking from The Hip". This is a nice hard back cook book that has Fast, Easy , Phenomenal Meals! (I know you are hooked now)!

The second cookbook is called Dining on A Dime, by Twara Kellam and Jill Cooper. You are going to be so excited because this book is signed by the author Tawra! Not only is this a great cookbook, but it also includes sections that have 1,000 Money Saving Tips!

Continuing on... We also have two very cute pocket size cook books, from Betty Crocker Titled Sizzling Grilling and Outdoor Eats!

Next up is our Summer feature! we have not only 3 Hand Towels, one each in Red, White and Blue, BUT we also have 4 very suitable for outdoor (read heavy plastic) eating plates and cups in red, yellow, blue and orange.

Oh yes, I have to tell you that this giveaway will end on Sunday morning 10:00 MST July 19, 2009. Right before Quotable Sunday, because that is my very favorite Meme of the week!
