Quotable Sunday ~Parenting

Happy Sunday everyone! Below are some quotes about parenting, but I had to post this: I just love it!

The joys of parents are secret, and so are their grief's and fears. ~ Francis Bacon

If the issue doesn’t matter a whole lot, just drop it. You don’t have to win every fight ... and you will not have lost any of your authority by giving in when it doesn’t matter very much. ~ Lawrence Balter

When you have children yourself, you begin to understand what you owe your parents. ~ Japanese Proverb

Tell your child often “I love you, no matter what.” ~ Cindy Francis

The decision to have a child is to accept that your heart will forever walk about outside of your body. ~ Katherine Hadley

A Day With Two ~2009 Flashback

I’m here! After a nasty bout with the stomach flu for the second week in a row, I thought I would let you all know I am here.

I haven’t been the best bloggy friend this week, I am sorry for that. My daughter had the flu on Monday and Tuesday and then work ganged up on me because I had to spend 2 days at home! I hate it when they actually expect me to work when I need to visit blogs….Geese!

Anyway, since you now know how my week has been I give you my Day With Two from last year the same week (because you know I didn’t take pictures of the sick kids this week LOL!) Enjoy!

Oh yea, and if I spam you all with comments this weekend now you know why! Love you guys, and thanks for reading!!

And CJ I am so glad you are back!!!!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Pork Pullin’

Take me back to 1999…I think.  Should have written the dates on the pictures I guess, you were right Mom!

Sometime in early summer, a bunch of us, bikers and non bikers alike got together every year to provide an overnighter benefit for Easter Seals.  Our group always helped out with the food.

This first picture with the train is actually the BBQ grill that the whole pig was roasted in overnight!  But someone had to get all the lovely Pork off of the bones, hence the Pork Pullin’.

Below is my best friend on the left, and on the right my brother-in-law in the back and hubby in the front!  My best friend and my brother in law are engaged!  Life is strange sometimes, they weren’t even dating back then and were with others.  I can’t even tell you how excited I am that my best friend is going to be my sister!

Aesop Quotes

Happy Sunday everyone!  Hopefully ours will prove to be a quiet one as it is snowing here again, and apparently will be for the next 2 days…sigh…  Today I have put together a bunch of quotes from Aesop for you, there are many good ones in there I think, enjoy my friends and have a great week!

It is in vain to expect our prayers to be heard, if we do not strive as well as pray.

After all is said and done, more is said than done.

It is thrifty to prepare today for the wants of tomorrow.

We should look to the mind, and not to the outward appearance.

Every truth has two sides; it is as well to look at both, before we commit ourselves to either.

The level of our success is limited only by our imagination and no act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.

A Visit to Build A Bear

Back in December I won a giveaway from Bridgette at The Not-So-Blog’s Experimental Mommy. Originally I won a Build A Bear stuffed Frosty the Snow Man, but due to a small snafu, I actually ended up with a $25 Gift Card instead. I have to tell you that this was a big benefit to Build A Bear!

We were out and about on Saturday and decided to visit our local Build A Bear one town over. The place was packed!! My kids picked out their animals, Dimples Teddy for my Cutie Bug (now know as “Black Bear”) and Velvet Puppy for my Angel (now know as “Rocky”). Can I just tell you real quick about the quality of these animals? When they say Velvet, they really mean it! But then, there are the clothes! I forgot about the clothes, that is what lead us to spend way more than our $25 gift certificate balance was!

Luckily I talked my daughter into the High School Musical outfit that was 1/2 off! Please note the cute red slippers that complete the outfit!! For the boy, I stumbled into the sports team section, does it get any cuter that the Colorado Rockies t-shirt I found for Bear? Oh wait, yes it does get cuter, the sandals were just way to cute to pass up!!As you can see, Rocky the Puppy and Black Bear were a huge hit in our house!!

I do realize that this post ended up sounding like a review, but I was very impressed with Build A Bear. While I can see, it is an expensive treat for kids, they do live up to their reputation in quality and their customer service was awesome!!

That being said, I did not receive any compensation for this post other than the gift card that was a legitimate giveaway win. These opinions are solely mine (and my children's!)

Thanks for reading everyone!

Take Me Back Tuesday

So I am a little late today, because our desktop computer decided to get a spyware virus! Ack, I hate those! So after an evening with a ton of frustration and a morning with a little System Restore, we are up and running again!

I know you were hoping for more picture of my family's plaid clothes, but alas I didn't have time to scan anything. Instead you get my Angel and one of her first Valentines Day presents:

Take me back to February 2005:

Look! Grammy sent me a Lammy!!
She is squishy and I must mush her into my face (I used to do this with all my stuffed animals!)

Thank you Grammy!!

Quotable Sunday ~Football

Of course, in honor of Super Bowl Sunday we have Football Quotes!

Cause there's only one reason for doing anything that you set out to do. If you don't want to be the best, then there's no reason going out and trying to accomplish anything. ~Joe Montana

Football is a game played with arms, legs and shoulders but mostly from the neck up. ~ Knute Rockne

Football isn't necessarily won by the best players. It's won by the team with the best attitude. ~ George Allen

Football is an honest game. It's true to life. It's a game about sharing. Football is a team game. So is life. ~Joe Namath

The game is choreographed; it is mental, it is physical, it is a battle. People can feel those hits when they are in the stadium, you feel them and you see the velocity of the players. ~ Joe Namath

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will. ~Vince Lombardi

Friends

Here you go Laurel…

Don't be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends. ~Richard Bach

I’m Here, Plaid, and Take Me Back Tuesday

Hey folks!  I have been a slacker blogger and I am sorry!  I am here, I haven’t been around to comment, and I haven’t posted, but I am here.  The end of the week always gangs up on me at work, and I never get around to posting.  Then Saturday came and Hubby was home on a weekend day (Yea!), and then for some reason on Sunday, I didn’t want to blog, I didn’t want to enter giveaways, and I never got the chance to visit all of you!  I sure hope to get caught up this week!

So here we are on Tuesday, well Monday Night actually.  I give you Plaid from 1977!  I mean really, who thought this was a good idea?  I was 8, Matt was 11 (that would be my brother BTW) and my parents were young.  Oh wait I say that every week don’t I?!?!

I just like these pictures, because we rarely got a photo with each parent at the holidays.
