Take Me Back Tuesday ~A New Beginning

Hi Take Me Back Tuesday fans, and blog readers (all 50 5 of you!) The lovely Kari at A Giveaway Addicted Mommy has asked me to Take over her fun Meme Take Me Back Tuesday.

What is Take Me Back Tuesday you say?? Well…in Kari’s words:

“How do you play along? We all have tons of photos from the days before the digital camera. I figure if I just scan a few each week, eventually I will get them all safely into my computer. But you don't need a scanner to participate - Just find a photo that takes you back to another time. Every week you can come back here and share photos that "take you back." Maybe it is the bad hair we all had in the 80's or the bell-bottoms you swore were so hip in the 70's.

The only thing I would add to this is: It is o.k. to be too tired to scan a photo. Often times I would just grab a digital picture of my kids that took me back in time but was easy to post. I have to say after participating in this Meme for a year, the very best thing I got out of it was the blogging friends I made!

Take Me Back to April of 2004. Yes folks this is me, I think one of the only pictures we have of me actually pregnant! Standing in our soon to be used nursery all done up in the Primary Color theme (just in case they were wrong about it being a girl!)

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Plaid?

Hey! I know you guys were missing my family and their plaid, so I was looking for plaid in my Mom’s photo album and found this!! It does count as plaid because, well….my brother is wearing plaid you know.

I also had to share this because it took me back to 1980. When I still had 2 living Grandparents. The first is my Mom’s mom, and the second is my Dad’s mom. Both gone for many years now. I never was lucky enough to know my Grandpa’s as they were both gone way before I was even born.

I love participating in Take Me Back Tuesday because it gives me back those very precious moments I seem to have forgotten, like the simple thing of having Grandparents.

Hi Grandma Glascock! Hi Grandma Taylor! Hi my beautiful brother I don’t see enough of!! It is so nice to see you again!!!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Poppa’s

So originally I was going to dig out some more great photos from my childhood past, and then I ran across Grandpas. Better know as “Poppa” in our house.

This first picture is Hubby’s dad when my Angel was 18 months old. So take me back to Christmas of 2005.

This picture is my Angel with my Dad when she was 8 months old. So take me back to Christmas of 2004.

We miss you “Poppa’s”! You didn’t get to spend much time with your grand babies, but we tell them about you all the time! Hubby and I miss you both, more than you could ever know, but then again I guess you probably do know…..

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Summer Vacation

I have really had a great time doing this MeMe.  Every week, on Monday night I remember I need to grab the photo album I borrowed took from my Mom and post a Take Me Back Tuesday Photo.  This usually leads to about an hour of flipping through my photos and remembering what my childhood was like. 

Take Me Back to 1979! 

Here we have my family!  My Brother, age 13, Mom, Dad and Me age 10. 

I can’t believe this was 30 years ago!  We were in Estes Park for the day.  Strange thing is, that is where we just did a family camping trip to this weekend!  You so know that more camping photos of our family will be following. 

I  just can’t believe how young my parents looked!  My children will be saying that before I know it. 

Same area, but 30 years and different Children later! 

The third child belongs to my friends Laurel and Andy, our beautiful Maggie!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Halloween 1972

Someone asked me this week about a happy Halloween memory.  Thankfully I had a picture of it! 

Take me back to Halloween of 1972.  That’s me on the left, at the ripe old age of 3!  My brother (the tall one) was 6!   This year is one of my fondest memories of Halloween.  For the first time we got to have “Store Bought” costumes!  How someone talked us into matching skeletons I will never know.  The  pumpkins are atop matching shop stools because again in Colorado it was snowing so hard my Dad was afraid to put them outside.  And yes, after this picture we went out into the snow to trick or treat!  (I mean, you can’t put the pumpkins out in the snow, but it’s fine to send your kids out into it! LOL)

Take Me Back Tuesday ~My Little Pumpkin

Take me back to October 2004! When did my little pumpkin get to be 5?? Here is my daughter on her first Halloween, she was just 6 months old! It was a cold snowy night here as many Halloweens are in Colorado, so we stayed home, dressed as a baby pumpkin, posed for the camera and handed out candy.

Mmmm… candy!

No, Mom didn’t really let me eat any!

Take Me back, just a few years this time to October 2006!   My Angel was 2 1/2 and my Cutie Bug was just shy of 6 months old.  The Blues Clues theme was my daughters idea!  She wanted to be Magenta (Blue’s friend from the show) so that made little brother Blue!  She walked around for weeks saying “Cutie Bug be Blue Blue and I be Genta”.  

Man, why do they have to grow up so fast!?!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Those Cheeks!

Take me back to October 2006.  My Angel was 2 1/2 and Cutie Bug was almost 6 months old.  Just look at those cheeks, I just want to pinch them one more time!  In the second photo you can just barely see the dimple he has in his cheek, thankfully it doesn’t seem like that is ever going away!  Oh where oh where did this tiny baby with those cheeks go??

Take me back to November 2005!  My Angel playing Rosie with her very favorite stuffed animal Grrr. 

Of course when she was this little (1 1/2) she only sang  “ashes, ashes” part and then would fall.  And Grrr?  He was a baby shower gift that she started liking when she was about 8 months old.  Today, he is still drug almost everywhere, has been washed probably 100 times and has no more fluff inside his tummy as it all is in his legs now.  Someday when she is done with Grrr, I may miss him more than she will!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~The Dog Post

Once upon a time… before we had kids we had dogs.

The first one came with Hubby, Sir Callahan the Great Dane. Callahan was brindle in color and one of the best dogs I have ever met. I remember his weight topping out at about 150. With a dog this big you learned to teach them to lay down at meal time, the phrase “back up”, and to grab the tail before it wagged you to death!

In March of 1991 we added Akita to the family. Adopted from our local Human Society Akita was a Lab- Rottweiler mix who was found on the side of a country road with crows trying to get to him. His name Akita was shortened from an Indian name that meant “little fighter” and he had a fighting spirit until the day he died.

About April 1991

Sometime in 1994 we lost Callahan to basic old age. Akita was lonely so in comes Watney. A Chow-German Sheppard mix, Watney came from a local pet store. Sweet Watney was our sad story for even though we got him when he was about 4 months old, someone had treated him very cruelly in his early months. He never really got over that and for a Chow was very submissive, quiet and probably the most loving dog I have ever had.

December 1995

In December of 1996 we somehow decided that 2 dogs were just not enough and got Theisen (Ti) from a local pet store. A Border Collie-German Sheppard mix Ti brought new energy to the house along with a desire to chew on everything we owned! Named “The Woodpecker Dog” by a friend, lovely Ti chewed up our wood block furniture, the cushions on it, dad’s shoes and everything else he could find.

Sometime in 1998 maybe? This is what a house with 3 dogs looks like! They could eat 40 pounds of dog food in a 2 week period, were the best of friends, a joy to have around, and truly my children at the time!

The hopefully short end of this long dog story is that we lost Watney first out of these 3. Sometime in 2003 if memory serves me correctly. Then my first child was born in 2004. We lost Akita second, sometime in 2006 when my second child was just months old. Ti is now our only dog who reaches the very respectable age of 13 next month! (and no, there will be no more children added to the family!)

Take Me Back Tuesday ~1975

 

Take me back to Summer vacation from 1975.  My parents always took us to Glenwood Springs for vacation.  We loved being able to swim in the hot sulfur springs pools and eat all our meals in restaurants!

Man, you just had to love the 70’s! What totally made me laugh about these pictures is the plaid pants.  I mean seriously, not only Dad but Brother too?!?!
