Estes Park, Colorado!
One of our favorite family vacation destinations, we live about an hour and 20 minutes from this secenic mountain town! Estes Park is known for its large quanity of specialty shops and nearness to Rocky Mountain National park, where the snow on the Longs Peak mountain is currently melting (more on this in a minute!)
Just last month we took a few days off and stayed there. The above picture is from in front of our hotel!
There are cabins near the river you can stay in, and horseback (or pony) riding to thrill any 2 year old! (Fall of 2008)
And the best slides and racecars to ride in when you are older!
If you are into camping, there a ton of nice places to do that too! They might even have a swingset where you can push your brother, and stand in front of a mountain at the same time!! (Summer 2009)
The Big Thompson River also runs through Estes Park. The above photo from early this week is from a spot I was standing 2 weeks ago!! I am sure glad that we are not there right now! The snow, as I said earlier, is melting off the mountains, apparently at a rate faster than normal and the river is very high. The water under this bridge should be about 3 or 4 feet lower than it is!!
Have somewhere exciting to tell us about?? Stop on over to Lemon Drop Pie and let us know!

Great pictures. If that water gets much higher they won't be driving over the bridge anymore!
What a great view. We are so far from the mountains. We will be going on vacation soon and will drive through Tennessee and I love the views. So different from our flat farm land where I live.
We're vacationing in Estes Park this summer! We're going to a family reunion at the YMCA. I can see we're going to have a great time!
Wow, so beautiful!! Horseback riding AND slides?! Perfect! =)
Now that looks like a lot of fun! Maybe even worth a cross country vacation!
I just can't believe that water level!
I love Estes Park too! We have friends that run a campground up there. We go up there quite a bit. Looks like we hit all the same fun spots while we're there. Maybe we will run into each other some time! Can you believe the water right now?? CRAZY
Looks and sounds like an amazing place to visit.
Oh my gosh, those slides! That looks like tons of fun!
