Oh That’s Right, I Have a Blog

Waves “hi”.

Pardon my absence, things have been a little crazy around here! Between getting ready for Christmas, trying to work things out about who goes to who's house on Christmas and one of the worst workloads at my job ever I just haven’t had the chance to be here.

I know I am not telling you all anything you haven’t experiences yourselves. I have seen many posts this week on how behind or overwhelmed everyone is!

I finally scored 4 days in a row off, and am going to make somewhat of an attempt to get caught up! Beginning with my favorite picture of the week!!

Quotable Sunday ~Erma Bombeck

I am having a terrible time giving up my Quotable Sunday Meme. I got to the point where I felt I had to due to disinterest of the host many parties involved. Quotes have always been a big part of my life that I attribute to my father. He taught me to love quotes from an early age, and to learn from them. So today I give you Erma:

If I had my life to live over, I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

pink rose

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the Fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn! With my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.'

There would have been more 'I love you's, more 'I'm sorry's.

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it... live it and never give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.

Instead; let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us not those who HATE on us.

The Top 10 Things Kids Want Their Parents To Do With Them

After having a great week just spending time with our kids, I though I would post this list from an article I read way back in January! What jumps out to me the most is how many times kids just want you to talk to them. I love hearing my kids talk about what is important to them and I love their perspective on their world! What do you talk to your kids about??

Found from an article here, this is a list of the top ten things students around the world said they remembered and loved most about their mothers.

  1. Come into my bedroom at night, tuck me in and sing me a song. Also tell me stories about when you were little.
  2. Give me hugs and kisses and sit and talk with me privately.
  3. Spend quality time just with me, not with my brothers and sisters around.
  4. Give me nutritious food so I can grow up healthy.
  5. At dinner talk about what we could do together on the weekend.
  6. At night talk to me about about anything; love, school, family etc.
  7. Let me play outside a lot.
  8. Cuddle under a blanket and watch our favorite TV show together.
  9. Discipline me. It makes me feel like you care.
  10. Leave special messages in my desk or lunch bag.

A Day With Two #3

Here is hoping every one had a nice Easter!  Or just a nice weekend for that matter!!

Since Hubby works retail, he was working Sunday but was home for our favorite part of the day, our Easter Egg hunt.  The Easter Bunny was very nice to us this year and left much candy and a toy for each kiddo!

While Daddy was at work we dyed our Easter eggs.  The Cutie Bug of course had to do yellow.  Looking back at our pictures from the day, yellow seamed to be a theme as he also had to wear his brand new How To Train A Dragon shirt we got at Wal-Mart!  We continued our day with a visit to the park!  This was a treat since it has hardly been warm enough here to do that very thing.  I think sometime in the near future I will have to get out comparison pictures of the last few year at this park because my goodness how big these kids are getting!!

A Day With Two ~2009 Flashback

I’m here! After a nasty bout with the stomach flu for the second week in a row, I thought I would let you all know I am here.

I haven’t been the best bloggy friend this week, I am sorry for that. My daughter had the flu on Monday and Tuesday and then work ganged up on me because I had to spend 2 days at home! I hate it when they actually expect me to work when I need to visit blogs….Geese!

Anyway, since you now know how my week has been I give you my Day With Two from last year the same week (because you know I didn’t take pictures of the sick kids this week LOL!) Enjoy!

Oh yea, and if I spam you all with comments this weekend now you know why! Love you guys, and thanks for reading!!

Perspective

I haven’t been here this week. I apologize for that. I owe you all of ton of comments and a post on what has been happening in our life. A few things happened this week that gave me perspective on life, I am about to share them with you.

The first thing that happened was that my son had eye surgery. He has/had a condition call Strabismus. A short definition on this is: Strabismus, more commonly known as cross-eyed or wall-eyed, is a vision condition in which a person can not align both eyes simultaneously under normal conditions. One or both of the eyes may turn in, out, up or down. Strabismus always requires appropriate evaluation and treatment. Children do not outgrow strabismus!

What did this mean for us? It mean that my sweet little 3 year old Cutie Bug had to have eye surgery. He was born with his eye muscles in the wrong place, the doctor had to go in and move the muscles to the right place… Patching would never help, glasses would never help, surgery was a must. Ignoring this condition would mean no quality of life for him…ever. No driving, no soccer, no walking to school, nothing.

I meant to blog about this before it happened, and just never found the time to do that, so I am sorry that I didn’t let you all know before hand. But I learned many things this week that I must share with you all, I learned a lot about perspective.

As we were sitting in the surgery office waiting for our turn I noticed a family. This family had a little girl with them and I noted that here eyes didn’t track right, so I figured that is why there were there right? After watching more, I noticed that this little girl had a tube in her neck, and about every 10 minutes her parents had to hook a vacuum up to this tube and drain stuff out of it. I started thinking how blessed I was to have a wonderful healthy 3 year old on my lap, and all he needed was his eyes fixed. After a short period, this family got up and went in the back, and all we could hear was a child, crying and crying, and crying. It took me a long time to figure out that this family, with the sweet little girl with the eye problems, and the trach tube, and the sparkle in her eyes anyway, was there because their second child had just come out from the same surgery that my son was about to have. They were there for the other child! Not the one I blindly assumed was the one in need of care. This family, who smiled at us while we were waiting with them, gave me a new meaning on perspective.

A second thing gave me a huge shot of perspective that day. After we got home, with my son who marched through this surgery like it was no big deal, I read a post. This post was from MckMama, you know Stellan and the heart miracle and all… Well MckMama put up a post titled I'm gonna miss this. If you only click on one link today, make it this one! I'm gonna miss this. To quote this post would make mine a mile longer than it already is. But you know I have to do it anyway: Here is what I learned from her:

I will not wish away their young years, always hoping to get more laundry done or other children dried off. I will relish each kiss, hug and song. I will leave their childhood behind with no regrets, no "I love you" unsaid, no cheek unkissed, no request to "Cuddle wif' me!" turned down. Even as the macaroni flies and the Sharpie stains my table, even when there are midnight wailers and globs of Desitin under my fingernails, I know...
...I know I'm gonna miss this.

This post gave me the best perspective I could have ever wished for.

Here is my Cutie Bug with crooked eyes. The next picture will be with perfect ones!

A Day With Two #1

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We actually put up the Christmas Tree the day after Thanksgiving. The kids of course had a great time looking at all of their favorite ornaments, here is a sample for you to enjoy: DSCN2930

God bless the neighbor! His house looks like this: The kids love it and secretly so do I!

Got any Christmas shopping done yet? Me, I got a few things, no Zhu Zhu pets included. This time of year I am a self proclaimed Amazon freak, watch all the stuff in my cart all the time for price drops!

Yesterday I got the Baby Alive Whoopsie Doo Doll for $17.49! I mean who doesn’t need a doll that pees and poops, boy can I hardly wait to see this one in action!

Snagged The Grinch - Sing Your Heart Out! game for a whopping $5.00 (it is still that price now BTW). And of course for the boy a Deka Bakugan and a Bakugan Amazon.com Exclusive Ultimate Brawler Collector's Gift Pack. The Gift Pack was on one of their Top Holiday Deals (which I also have been watching like a hawk) and was only $4.99! Funny, 2 months ago I didn’t even know what a Bakugan was!

All free shipping because I signed up for their Amazon Prime 30 day trial, so everything (almost) ships in 2 days and free!

Anyone else snag any great deals over the weekend?

Sorry I missed Quotable Sunday, shopping and all today!

Peace Found Here

That’s all on the home front of A Day With Two!
