Aloha Friday #1

Yea, so I don’t know what is up with me and actually posting this week, but I thought it was about time to jump in on Aloha Friday’s! If you need an explanation on what this is see the description below from Kailani’s blog at An Island Life!

My question for the week is: How long have you been blogging, and why did you start??

My answer is I officially started my blog in February of 2008, but I am not sure it counts because my very second post was in January of 2009. It was kind of a new years resolution that I actually stuck with!

Why did I start blogging? To have a written record of the lives of my children. Then I found the giveaways…… Then I found the friends!!

Haven’t looked back since. My one regret is that I don’t have more time to do it!

alohafriday

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link on the MckLinky included in the Aloha Friday post. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Our Day

Welcome to Colorado!  This is what our backyard looks like right now!

Toddler boy is not pictured because he looked outside and said “I don’t want to go outside right now, Sister likes cold, I don’t!”

Sadly, I took today off to help at my daughter’s Kindergarten Halloween party.  No school, no party and a bunch of Sunny D drinks I was supposed to take.  I was really looking forward to my first “help in the classroom day”.

So, how is your weather??

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Princess

Tired of Halloween Pictures yet??

Every mom of a little girl has to be allowed to dress her as a princess before she starts choosing her own costumes!

Take me back to 2005!  My little Angel at 18 months old.  Her little brother was just a tiny bean in my tummy at the time!

Quotable Sunday ~Innocence

Take Me Back Tuesday

Take Me back, just a few years this time to October 2006!   My Angel was 2 1/2 and my Cutie Bug was just shy of 6 months old.  The Blues Clues theme was my daughters idea!  She wanted to be Magenta (Blue’s friend from the show) so that made little brother Blue!  She walked around for weeks saying “Cutie Bug be Blue Blue and I be Genta”.

Man, why do they have to grow up so fast!?!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~Halloween 1972

Someone asked me this week about a happy Halloween memory.  Thankfully I had a picture of it!

Take me back to Halloween of 1972.  That’s me on the left, at the ripe old age of 3!  My brother (the tall one) was 6!   This year is one of my fondest memories of Halloween.  For the first time we got to have “Store Bought” costumes!  How someone talked us into matching skeletons I will never know.  The  pumpkins are atop matching shop stools because again in Colorado it was snowing so hard my Dad was afraid to put them outside.  And yes, after this picture we went out into the snow to trick or treat!  (I mean, you can’t put the pumpkins out in the snow, but it’s fine to send your kids out into it! LOL)

Quotable Sunday ~Ann Landers

Welcome to another edition of Quotable Sunday!  I have chosen a few of my favorite Ann Landers quotes for you today,  I hope you enjoy them!

If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things that are missing. If you don't have love in your life, no matter what else there is, it's not enough.

Keep in mind that the true measure of an individual is how he treats a person who can do him absolutely no good.

Maturity: Be able to stick with a job until it is finished. Be able to bear an injustice without having to get even. Be able to carry money without spending it. Do your duty without being supervised.

 AnnLandersQuote

If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and when it comes, hold you head high, look it squarely in the eye and say, "I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me."

When life's problems seem overwhelming, look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself fortunate.

The best things in life aren't things.

Keep Your Mind on the Wheel ~"Never Drive While InTEXTicated"

MomsMsg.com

The dangers of texting or talking on a cell phone while driving are mind boggling! I think we have all seen very bad footage or heard bad stories that come from doing either of these things while you are behind the wheel of a car (or any other vehicle for that matter!)

This is a topic that is very dear to my heart as a lot of my driving time is spent with my children in the car. My 5 year old even knows not to text while driving! Whenever I get a text message ring in the car she always tells me “Mama, you know you can’t text while driving!”

Mom Sends The Msg is asking drivers to take a pledge to stop driving while distracted!

From Their website they say:

Here is what we pledge:

  • We pledge to model safe behavior when we drive.
  • We pledge to set firm house rules on texting and phoning while driving.
  • We pledge to help spread the word on the dangers of distracted driving.

Here is what we ask for:

  • We ask for the dangers of distracted driving to be included in drivers’ education classes.
  • We ask for innovations in technology to help solve the problem.
  • We ask for laws to make it illegal to text and drive.
  • We ask for enforcement of existing distracted driving laws and consequences when the laws are broken.
  • By working together we will make everyone safer.

BONUS:
Go visit: Live, Laugh, Love and Bloggings, after you have taken the pledge! You can enter her giveaway to win $50 worth of gift cards to spend on Amazon!

Take Me Back Tuesday ~My Little Pumpkin

Take me back to October 2004! When did my little pumpkin get to be 5?? Here is my daughter on her first Halloween, she was just 6 months old! It was a cold snowy night here as many Halloweens are in Colorado, so we stayed home, dressed as a baby pumpkin, posed for the camera and handed out candy.
